Our tour with assemble at 9am at and agreed location and travel on to Bandon. Here the tour begins proper heading for Kilbrittain and taking in some interesting sites along the way. Kilbrittain is the “jewel in the crown” one of the oldest inhabited castles in Ireland dating back to around 1035. There will be a guided tour of the castle followed by tea/coffee and scones at 10.30am approx at the Pink Elephant restaurant at Harbour View overlooking Courtmacsherry bay.
From there its on to Timoleague Abbey, a chance for quiet reflection in a panoramic setting. A couple of miles from here lies the lovely fishing village of Ring, and a scenic coastal drive will bring us into Clonakilty where the group will get the chance to explore the town assisted by the tour guide. Here you can visit the many restaurants and hotels. Clonakilty is a town who has received many Tidy Town awards over the years, with the most recent being named Irelands Tidiest Small Town in Sept 2012, retaining their Gold medal and winning the County Award.
On leaving the town we head westwards and visit the birthplace of Michael Collins and places of note in that area. Our tour will continue on to the picturesque village of Rosscarbery situated at the mouth of a shallow estuary and steeped in history.
Evening meal will be served at the Celtic Ross 3* hotel in Rosscarbery at 6.30pm approx, and the tour returns home later in the evening. This day tour is a relaxed event and the groups wishes will always be taken into consideration.
